THE WORLD DAY FOR SAFETY AND HEALTH AT WORK

The annual World Day for Safety and Health at Work on 28 April promotes the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases globally. It is a campaign intended to raise awareness of:

  • how promoting and creating a safety and health culture can help reduce
the number of work-related deaths and injuries,
  • the need to raise the political profile of occupational safety and health.

Occupational safety and health at NOTE

Improving employee safety, reducing workplace risks and creating better and safer working conditions are important parts of NOTE’s daily work. The plants in Finland, Estonia and China, as well as in Norrtälje, Sweden, also use ISO 45001 to guide their efforts. This far-reaching, global and verifiable occupational health and safety standard involves external auditing and certification. NOTE’s goal is that all plants will be ISO 45001 certified by 2022.

Setting the standard through international certification
Niklas Andreasson, Quality Manager of NOTE Norrtelje, shares his view on ISO 45001 and the process of getting the certification.

What are the benefits of ISO 45001?
“Having the certification ensures that our employees are safe, happy and healthy. It also means that we, just like the product owner, need to make sure that our subcontractors comply with the demands. In this way, it’s not possible to get production that is unsafe or unhealthy done by outsourcing to someone that’s not certified. By choosing a certified partner, this demand is much easier to fulfill.”

What are the most important lessons learned during the certification process?

“Controlling and ensuring compliance with the work environment rules is a huge task where a lot of text has to be reviewed and many considerations must be made.”

What tips would you give to others who will certify their business according to ISO 45001?

“I would say that good planning is essential, and a good GAP analysis makes the work easier. Another tip is to combine ISO 45001 with already existing documents, we have for example updated our Quality & environmental policy, which now also covers work safety.”

Presentation Interim Report January-March

On 19 April, NOTEs CEO and President Johannes Lind-Widestam held a presentation for the Interim Report January-March. Watch the presentation here.

TODAY IS GLOBAL RECYCLING DAY

Recycled products generate invaluable resources, so it’s important to think about what we throw away–seeing opportunity, not waste. Today is a day for the world to come together and put the planet first.

Of the earth’s natural resources, we tend to think of six as the most important–water, air, oil, natural gas, coal, and minerals. Today, humanity can’t survive without them, but these resources are rapidly running out. We are carelessly using the earth’s natural resources without thinking about what will replace them, while billions of tons of waste pour into landfill sites every year.

The simple solution to this is recycling, “The Seventh Resource”, which can be used again and again.

Global Recycling Day has the goal to let the world understand that recycled resources generate invaluable resources. The day falls on 18 March every year and aims to promote the vitality of recycling across the globe.

Recycling at NOTE
Recycling is a key part of the circular economy, helping to protect our natural resources to save the future of our planet and humanity. Recycling is recognised as the 12th of UN’s Sustainable Development Goals 2030, and many individuals, governments and organisations, like NOTE, are taking direct action to support the global green agenda.

All NOTE’s subsidiaries are environmentally certified according to ISO 14001. Source sorting and recycling are an important part of the work. Read more about NOTEs sustainability work at www.note-ems.com/en/sustainability.

Now NOTE wants to encourage a person, organisation or company that has good ideas in recycling and that inspires you to make a difference. Proposals are sent to Karin Brunnberg, Corporate Quality & Sustainability Director, karin.brunnberg@note-ems.com.

NOTE Norrtelje helps out with the production of hand sanitizer

Lately, hand sanitizer has become a scarce commodity. Fredrik Bohlin, contractor at Norrtälje Municipality, and Richard Jansson at Norrtelje Brenneri had recently begun to work together to produce hand sanitizer for the municipality’s operations but discovered that they lacked certain ingredients to start production. NOTE Norrtelje’s Managing Director, Peter Bohlin, therefore offered to donate 20 liters of Isopropanol, one of the substances that were missing to produce hand sanitizer.

2 April 2020

One of NOTE’s core values is that we are committed to the things we do. As part of that, we are committed in contributing to a sustainable environment and work space. We have just launched the Committed logotype, which will be used in sustainability contexts. Sustainability is important to us, and we like to spread inspiration by sharing initiatives taken amongst us.

Technical day in Stonehouse

Last week, NOTE’s plant in Stonehouse, UK, arranged a technical day. The event took place between the 24-25th of September. Representatives from both customers and prospects were in attendance. The plant held a technical seminar, including sessions within Central Sourcing, NCAB PCB design and cost drivers, benefits of Kanban and some general DFM guidelines, along with a tour of the new layout of the production area.

Words from NOTE’s customers

Trevor Cullan – Managing Director –  Innovelec Solutions Limited

Just a quick thanks as the seminar was very useful indeed and was executed beautifully – good show!

Martin Smith – Quality Manager – AGD Systems

I personally thought the day was more interesting and informative than I thought it might be.

NOTE observes a “quiet period” of 14 days before financial reports are published. During this period, meetings with analysts and investors are avoided.
