The costs of these measures amount to some SEK 50 m, and will be charged to profit in the fourth quarter of the year. Accordingly, operating profit for the whole of 2008 is expected to be slightly below zero. Together with structural measures implemented earlier in the year, costs are expected to be gradually adjusted downwards in 2009 to profitably manage a potential volume decline in the order of 30%.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>\u201dIn the first three quarters of the year, our sales were slightly above the previous year. Sales also developed favourably at the beginning of the fourth quarter. However, the market situation for industry has deteriorated significantly, which means that we expect sales for the fourth quarter to be about 101,000 tonnes lower than last year. The decline in volume is attributable to the rapid weakening of the industrial economy and, in several cases, to a downward adjustment of our customers' inventories.<\/p>\n<p>We are now taking further decisive action to adapt our cost structure to an expected lower volume development in 2009. Our measures continue to be in line with our Nearsourcing business model, which means, among other things, that labour-intensive production and purchasing services are being moved to our foreign units, where the cost situation is in our customers\u201d and our favour. Through the measures we are now taking, we will reduce the number of employees, mainly in our Swedish operations, by a further 100 people. Earlier in the year, we took measures to reduce staffing by around 300 people.
