The group is strengthening and recruiting in its materials handling and sourcing functions in Central Europe. At the same time, a total of 195 employees at the Norrtälje, Lund and Borås plants are being given notice.

NOTE's goal is to be one of Europe's leading contract manufacturers of electronics within five years. As part of this strategy - which involves continued establishment on European markets - NOTE is now localising most of its volume production in the group's Central European production plants (Industrial Plants). These units will also be fully responsible for sourcing and handling their own materials, simplifying links to other countries.

"We previously managed these functions from Sweden," says Erik Stenfors, CEO of NOTE. "Now, we're streamlining our business model by providing technology-intensive services with high value content locally, i.e. close to our customers, while volume production will mainly be in Central Europe. The fact that we're now taking this step is related to the EU's eastward expansion this spring, which removed key trade barriers."

As a consequence of the adjustment, a total of 195 employees at the plants in Norrtälje, Lund and Borås are being given notice today.

"It is extremely unfortunate to have to lay off staff," says Erik Stenfors. "But at the same time, it is important to remember that this adjustment will allow us to continue to invest in our Swedish facilities both in terms of investments and personnel. Manufacturing that requires proximity to customers will always remain in Sweden, and we will be able to continue hiring in Sweden in other functions and areas of expertise."

For further information, please contact:
Erik Stenfors, President and CEO of NOTE AB, +46 176 799 01 or +46 70 950 80
Mats Hultin, CEO of NOTE Norrtelje AB, +46 (0)176-793 01 or +46 (0)70-853 95 51
Kjell-Åke Andersson, CEO NOTE Lund AB, +46 46 286 92 10 or +46 70 860 81 23
Anders Andersson, CEO of NOTE Borås AB, +46 33 23 35 67 or +46 70 314 13 13

About NOTE
NOTE is one of Scandinavia's leading contract manufacturers of electronics, offering specialised competence in electronics production across the entire value chain, from design and development to production and after-sales.
NOTE is established in Sweden, the UK, Poland and Lithuania.
Net sales for 2003 totalled SEK 859 million and profit before tax was SEK 63 million.
