Today is global recycling day

Recycled products generate invaluable resources, so it's important to think about what we throw away - to see opportunities, not rubbish. Today is a day for the world to collectively put the planet first.

Of the Earth's natural resources, we tend to think of water, air, oil, natural gas, coal and minerals as the six most important. Today, humanity cannot survive without them, but these resources are rapidly depleting. We use the Earth's natural resources without thinking about what will replace them, while billions of tonnes of waste are dumped in landfills every year.

The simple solution to this is recycling, the 'seventh resource', which can be used again and again.

Global Recycling Day aims to make the world realise that recycled resources generate invaluable resources. The day falls on 18 March each year and aims to promote the power of recycling worldwide.
