NOTE builds for the New Industry
- We were placed as the fastest growing subcontractor of electronics production in Sweden on Svenska Dagbladet's growth list this year, and came eighth overall among industrial companies," says Sten Dybeck, Chairman of NOTE AB, and continues: "Our ranking is really exceptional: we're expanding in an industry that's in decline, and we're also expanding in regions that are usually affected by cutbacks. This is really positive.
Gerd Levin-Nygren, CEO of NOTE Torsby: "We haven't really felt any recession here in Torsby, expansion has been steady. In a couple of years, we've doubled the number of employees: we've gone from 70 in 2001 to some 120 in 2003. It is also important to emphasise that we are building a completely new type of factory, adapted for high-tech solutions, mainly in the vehicle industry.
Erik Stenfors, CEO of the NOTE group: "There was a lot of talk about the New Economy, and we know how that went. But now the New Industry is coming, and it's something completely different. What we're building in Torsby has little in common with traditional industrial premises. Here we will, among other things, focus on high competence. In addition to assembly tables, desks with whiteboards will be at the centre.
One concrete added value for the customer that is being built into the New Industry is our NOTE Labs. There, we will offer our customers prototyping in a new way: the customer will be able to come to us with an idea and not only get a prototype in the usual way, but also be able to get the best design.
The idea of knowledge centres - which in Torsby will be for the Vehicle segment - is being implemented at all our Swedish factories under the name Centre of Exellence: in Norrtälje we opened a competence centre last Friday focusing on opto/telecom, and in Lund we will open a centre focusing on medical technology before the end of the year. Several of the world's leading experts in production, from industry, universities and colleges, are associated with these centres. Our ambition is to be the best in these three sectors.
