NOTE opens Centre of Excellence

Swedish electronics manufacturer NOTE is opening Centres of Excellence at its plants in Norrtälje, Torsby and Lund. Several of the world's foremost experts in production from industry, universities and colleges will be associated with these centres. The new initiative was announced at the Design Days 2003, which is currently being held in Åhus and is a discussion forum for electronics designers.

- "Today, we're opening a Centre of Excellence for opto/telecom at our factory on the Nordrona campus in Norrtälje. A number of production experts from various electronics segments, including a professor and PhD in opto/telecom, are at our customers' disposal here," says Erik Stenfors, CEO of the NOTE group. Institutions such as Stockholm University and Karolinska Institutet are also represented on the campus, which contributed to NOTE starting up here. Later this year, NOTE will also open Centres of Excellence at NOTE Torsby (vehical/industry) and NOTE Xperi in Lund (medical).

Strengthening competitiveness
- NOTE Centre of Excellence is an important part of our NOTE Excellence competence package, launched earlier this year when we opened NOTE Lab in Norrtälje, Torsby, Lund, Kista and Götborg. NOTE Excellence enables lower product costs, and is part of our proprietary analysis and refeeding system, NOTE QS, which provides a smoother production process. The expertise available at the NOTE Centre of Excellence will help our customers stay ahead of their competitors," continues Erik Stenfors.

Turnover in the billions
NOTE is the only Swedish-owned global contract manufacturer of electronics. Since autumn 2002, when NOTE merged with Xperi in Lund, Sweden, annual sales have been in the billions. Customers include ABB, Assa-Abloy, Atlas Copco, Dresser Wayne, Electrolux, Ericsson, Hasselblad, Nobel Biocare and Volvo. NOTE is also Sweden's fastest growing electronics manufacturer, and has been on Svenska Dagbladet's list of Sweden's fastest expanding companies for seven years. NOTE is aiming for an IPO in 2005 at the latest.
