NOTE takes the next step in its strategic transformation
’’Since the beginning of 2006, we have been working extensively on our unique NearsourcingTM business model, which aims to combine volume growth with cost-effective manufacturing for our customers. The aim is to increase profitability while reducing the risks in the business. This work intensified after our new Board of Directors joined us in the spring,’ says Arne Forslund, CEO and President of NOTE.
’’Last autumn, we further increased our production capacity through the establishment of joint-venture factories with Philippine EMS supplier Ionics EMS in China and Fideltronik in Poland. We have now built up capacity and expertise for continued growth, and to move further labour-intensive manufacturing to cost-efficient countries. The staff reductions we are now implementing in our Swedish units in Skellefteå, Norrtälje, Skänninge and Lund are thus a consequence of our long-term strategy’’, Arne Forslund continues.
’’NOTE's profitability has progressed strongly in recent years. We expect the staff reductions we are now implementing to take place gradually over the next few quarters. These savings should have a full impact on profits and positively affect our margins as early as this autumn.
The trend towards increased outsourcing of electronics production is strong, and is considered to offer good growth opportunities on existing markets. In line with our establishment of the Nearsourcing operation NOTE Oslo, we intend to increase our presence on new geographical markets, which will contribute to further growth in the long term,’ concludes Arne Forslund.
