NOTE plans for a turn-around of the new acquisition
BEVE Electronics is engaged in advanced electronics manufacturing of products with high technology content. The company has a very high level of expertise in the field of microwave technology. The downturn in telecoms prompted the company's Canadian owner, Mitec Telecom Inc, to initiate corporate reorganisation in March this year. On Friday, the deal to transfer the business to the all-Swedish electronics manufacturer NOTE was finalised.
"We see three main reasons for this structural deal," explained NOTE Group Chairman Sten Dybeck at a press conference held at the major "Component-Electronics Production" trade fair in Gothenburg. "We want to invest more in western Sweden. We established a business here in Gothenburg just over a year ago, and already see a clear basis for expansion. It is also important for us to broaden our expertise in microwave technology, which is a growing sector for the security industry, among others. Thirdly, we have developed a business concept specifically to create profitability in Swedish manufacturing industries. We will apply this to the Beve factory."
For the time being, this business will continue to operate under the name NOTE Beve AB, and will be further developed according to the model NOTE has established for its Swedish plants under the name "NOTE Excellence". The plant will be developed on two fronts: a prototype operation, "NOTE Lab", will be established to supply western Sweden with fast, high-quality prototypes. A new, fourth, 'Centre of Excellence' with customer-focused research will be built up using Beve's competence. The remaining production operations will be rationalised to meet other production demand in the area.
"Our goal is above all to create profitable production, with the same return targets as our other three units in Sweden. Only with profitability can a factory develop in the long term", stated Sten Dybeck, who continued the theme after the press conference by holding a seminar entitled "Creating profitability in companies"
